KENT V LION CUBS, PREVIEW

LEICESTER have another important away fixture in the NDL when they head to Kent on Sunday (midday start).

The Lion Cubs will be targeting all three points on offer at Iwade, with the aggregate point up for grabs after a 56-34 win at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park at the end of May.

And if they were to win on the day as well, the Lion Cubs would move to within one point of league leaders Mildenhall in what looks set to be a terrific fight for the two play-off places which will form the Grand Final line-up.

Opponents Kent have had a tough season, but they have won both of their completed league matches on their own circuit, getting the better of Belle Vue and Berwick.

They operate rider replacement for the injured Jack Kingston, whilst the Lion Cubs are still without skipper Joe Thompson and Tom Spencer who both remain on the sidelines.

In a change to the recent strategy, rider replacement will be in operation for Thompson, with all members of the team eligible for an extra outing, whilst Josh Warren steps in as a guest for Spencer.

Warren has a good record at Iwade including a sensational 17+1 score when racing at reserve for Mildenhall last season.

Lion Cubs boss Dave Howard said: “It was really key that we got the away win at Edinburgh a few weeks ago and it’s key that we get more away wins.

“It’s so important with only the top two going into the Grand Final and not the top four, so we’ll definitely be looking to push as hard as we can when we go to Kent.

“I asked four potential guests for Joe and they all said they couldn’t do it, so I decided to go with r/r for Joe meaning all of the team can take a ride, and go for a guest for Tom.”

KENT: Ben Morley, Jack Kingston r/r, Connor King, Tom Woolley, Nathan Ablitt, Rhys Naylor, Sam Woolley.
LEICESTER: Dan Thompson, Ashton Boughen, Max Perry, Josh Warren, Joe Thompson r/r, Vinnie Foord, Max James.
